Aha and Bha: good acids for your skin

Korean Skincare Cosrx Schweiz

If you want to have healthy and flawless skin, there are two very important acids whose best you need to know for your skin type:

AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) and BHA (Beta-Hydroxy acids).

AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid):

Even if AHA and BHA are often combined to give you impeccable skin, AHA alone can also be effective in exfoliating your skin. AHAs are essentially made up of two different types of acids, namely glycolic acid and lactic acid. AHAs generally act on the external surface of the skin and generally do not penetrate inside. This means that it is good to eliminate imperfections and marks from your skin rather than providing deep cleaning.

In addition, if you think AHA can help you eliminate obstructed pores, white dots, blackheads, bacterial infections inside the skin or cystic acne, you are wrong. AHAs have no deep cleaning effect and therefore tend to act on the outer surface of your skin.

But there are obviously tons of AHA advantages that you would like to know, right? Well, AHA helps resurface the skin by eliminating all dead cells and making your skin radiant. In addition, it also gives you a uniform complexion and acts as a moisturizing agent, which means that it can be used for normal dry skin types.

In addition, the AHA also helps to remove the spots due to the sun, pigmentation, acne pimples or any other stain on the skin which must disappear. Finally, and above all, it increases the production of collagen, which is surprising for the fight against aging. Incredible, right?

BHA (Beta-Hydroxy acid):

Now that we have finished with the exfoliating agent Aha, let's go to the second, the BHA. The BHA, which, as you already know, means "beta-hydroxy acid", is ideal for cleaning the skin in depth.

Unlike the AHA, the BHA penetrates and absorbs deep into the skin, which helps eliminate the growth of acne inside the skin. The BHA is mainly intended to target acne -tendency skins. It fights against bacterial infections and also acts as an anti-inflammatory. As it helps clean the skin at the root, it is often the first priority for most people. Thus, if you have obstructed pores, white dots and blackheads, the use of a product containing a high percentage of BHA is always beneficial for you.

But the BHA is not suitable for everyone, especially people with sensitive skin. So, before trying a product containing BHA, make sure that the percentage of BHA is slightly lower. If that seems to work for you, you can increase the percentage of BHA to get better results. (BHA's ideal percentage is normally 2 to 3 %).
